Dame Leah Manning MP's autobiography from 1970. She studied at Homerton College, Cambridge, before teaching in one of the primary schools in the poorest parts of town. It was this experience that shaped her politics. She went onto become President of the National Union of Teachers, an MP in the second Labour minority government of Ramsay MacDonald, became a reporter and aid worker during the Spanish Civil War, rescuing thousands of children from the Bombing of Bilbao. Elected an MP again in 1945.
